calendar(C)
calendar --
invoke a reminder service
Syntax
calendar [ - ]
Description
calendar consults the file calendar in the
user's current directory and mails the user lines that contain
today's or tomorrow's date. Most reasonable month-day dates, such as
Sep. 14, september 14, and 9/14, are recognized, but not 14
September, or 14/9.
On weekends, ``tomorrow'' extends through Monday. Lines that contain
the date of a Monday will be sent to the user on the previous
Friday. This is not true for holidays.
When an argument is present, calendar does its job for
every user who has a file calendar in his login
directory. Normally this is done daily, in the early morning, under
the control of
cron(C).
Limitations
To get reminder service, a user's calendar file must have
read permission for all.
