setdate(ADMN)


setdate -- set the system date and time from a remote host

Syntax

setdate [ -d ] host ...

Description

setdate sets the local date and time from the hosts specified on the command line. setdate tries the hosts in order until one answers or the list is exhausted. It then updates the local time with settimeofday(S). If the -d option is used, the time will be displayed and setdate will exit without updating the local time.

Only root may use this command.
