Creating context-sensitive help

Testing your help book

To test that your hook file brings up the correct context-sensitive help:

  1. Print out the hook file so that you can check off each hook as you test it.

  2. Kill the xm_vtcld server process.

  3. Add this line to the file /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/ScoHelp: the following line
       *simpleInterface: False

This will allow you to use your browser's File->View Source option.

  4. Start the manager.

  5. Bring up DocView by pressing <F1> and then select File->View Source in the DocView window. Leave the source window open; it displays the node name that you can check against the hook file for each selection you test.

  6. Place the cursor on the different widgets to which you linked your .html node files and press <F1>.

  7. Open all dialog boxes/windows and click on the Help buttons.
